Update: New E-wood power station commissioned
On Thursday 1 December the new E-wood power station was commissioned. The commissioning was approved by AIB Vinçotte. E-Wood will convert approximately 180,000 tons of non-recyclable wood waste into energy every year. The energy released by this process is converted into electricity or used as steam in the Ecluse industrial steam network. Construction of this facility started in the spring of 2020. The investment amounted to €95 million. The new facility will provide employment for some 15 employees. Wood waste is a renewable source of energy. By using this wood waste as raw material, E-Wood produces green energy. In this way E-Wood contributes to the attainment of both the EU’s and Flanders’ climate goals.
